Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) red fruit-flavored gelatin (strawberry, cherry, or raspberry)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or rum
  • White Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water
  • 1 can (14 oz / 396 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or rum
  • Blue Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue fruit-flavored gelatin (blueberry or blue raspberry)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or rum

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a mixing bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water over the red gelatin powder. Stir for about 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add 1/2 cup vodka or rum and mix gently. Pour into molds or shot glasses, filling each about one-third full. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Make the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Bring 1 cup boiling water to a boil, pour over gelatin and whisk until dissolved. Stir in sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup vodka or rum until smooth. Cool to room temperature (10-15 minutes). Pour gently over red layer. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes to set.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blue gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stir in 1/2 cup vodka or rum. Cool to room temperature. Pour carefully over white layer, filling molds to the top. Chill in fridge for at least 2 hours or overnight for best texture.
  4. Unmold and Serve: Once fully set, gently pop jello shots from molds. If using plastic cups, serve as is with a spoon or toothpick.

Notes

Let gelatin mixtures cool to room temperature before pouring each layer to prevent colors from mixing. Allow each layer to set until firm but tacky before adding the next. Use 40% ABV (80 proof) vodka or rum for best results. For dairy-free, substitute sweetened condensed milk with coconut condensed milk. Non-alcoholic versions can be made by replacing alcohol with sparkling water or fruit juice.
