These maple donut bars are a cozy, sweet treat perfect for fall mornings, featuring warm maple flavors, a soft texture, and a rich glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a slight overhang for easy removal later.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spatula. Tap the pan gently on the counter to remove air bubbles.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The top should be golden and slightly firm to the touch.
  8. While the bars cool, prepare the glaze. In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.
  9. Once the bars are completely cool, drizzle the maple glaze over the top. Let it set for about 10 minutes before slicing into bars.

Notes

[‘Use softened butter for easy creaming and light, fluffy bars.’, ‘Avoid overmixing the batter to prevent dense bars.’, ‘Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor.’, ‘Let the bars cool completely before adding the glaze.’, ‘Customize the glaze thickness by adjusting the powdered sugar or milk.’]
