Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 fresh bagels (plain, everything, sesame, or your favorite—sliced in half)
  • 8 oz smoked salmon lox (thinly sliced; Nova or Scottish style works best)
  • 1/2 small red onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 English cucumber (thin rounds)
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 1/4 cup capers (drained)
  • 1 small bunch fresh dill (sprigs for garnish)
  • 1 lemon (cut into wedges)
  • Optional: sliced avocado
  • Optional: radishes
  • Optional: microgreens
  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tbsp everything bagel seasoning
  • 1 tbsp sour cream (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tsp chopped fresh chives

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Everything Cream Cheese: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, everything bagel seasoning, and sour cream (if using). Mix until smooth and fluffy. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir in chopped chives if desired.
  2. Slice the Vegetables: Thinly slice red onion, cucumber, and halve cherry tomatoes. Arrange each in clusters on your serving board. Slice avocado, radishes, and add microgreens if using.
  3. Arrange the Lox and Bagels: Lay out smoked salmon lox in gentle waves or folds. Slice bagels in half and fan them out around the board. Toast bagels in a 350°F oven for 3-4 minutes if desired.
  4. Fill Bowls with Toppings: Add capers, lemon wedges, and everything cream cheese to small bowls or ramekins. Place them on the board.
  5. Garnish and Final Touches: Scatter sprigs of fresh dill across the lox and veggies. Place lemon wedges in corners. Add extra everything bagel seasoning in a small dish if desired.
  6. Serve Immediately: Bring the board to the table and let everyone build their perfect bagel. Keep extra bagels and cream cheese nearby for refills.

Notes

Prep veggies and cream cheese ahead for efficiency. Use gluten-free or dairy-free substitutes as needed. For milder onions, soak slices in cold water for 10 minutes. Toast bagels just before serving for best texture. Store leftovers in airtight containers; bagels freeze well.
