A quick and easy fresh spring lemonade with a zesty citrus twist, blending lemon, orange, and lime for a refreshing and comforting drink perfect for sunny days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium lemons, juiced (about 1 cup or 240 ml juice)
  • 2 medium oranges, zest and juice (about ½ cup or 120 ml juice)
  • 1 small lime, juiced (optional)
  • ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar, adjust to taste
  • 4 cups (960 ml) cold water
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Fresh mint leaves, a handful for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Roll each lemon and orange on the counter firmly to loosen the juice. Cut in half and use a juicer to extract juice from 6 lemons, 2 oranges, and the lime (if using). Strain to remove seeds if desired.
  2. Use a microplane to zest the 2 oranges, avoiding the white pith. Set zest aside.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine ¾ cup granulated sugar with 1 cup hot water. Stir until sugar dissolves completely to make simple syrup.
  4. Add the fresh lemon juice, orange juice, lime juice (if using), and orange zest to the simple syrup. Stir well to blend flavors.
  5. Pour in 3 cups cold water and stir. Taste and adjust by adding more cold water or sugar as needed.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill and let flavors meld.
  7. Serve over plenty of ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Roll citrus fruits before juicing to maximize juice yield. Avoid zesting the white pith to prevent bitterness. Dissolve sugar in hot water first for smooth sweetness. Chill lemonade for at least 30 minutes before serving. For a sparkling twist, replace half the cold water with sparkling water just before serving.
