Ingredients

  • Sharp Cheddar cheese, sliced or cubed
  • Soft Brie or Camembert cheese, sliced
  • Feta cheese, crumbled
  • Mini cucumbers, sliced
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Snap peas or sugar snap peas
  • Seedless grapes, red or green
  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Apple slices, lightly tossed with lemon juice
  • Multigrain crackers (e.g., Mary’s Gone Crackers)
  • Mini baguette slices or crostini
  • Hummus, plain or flavored
  • Olive tapenade or sun-dried tomato spread
  • Honey mustard or grainy mustard
  • Mixed nuts, lightly salted (almonds, cashews, or pistachios)
  • Olives, green or Kalamata
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme sprigs

Instructions

  1. Clean the vintage tackle box thoroughly with warm soapy water and dry completely. Line the compartments with parchment paper or clean cloth napkins.
  2. Slice the cheddar and brie into bite-sized pieces (about 1-inch cubes or wedges). Crumble the feta in a small bowl. Arrange each cheese type in separate compartments.
  3. Rinse grapes, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and snap peas. Slice apples thinly and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning. Ensure produce is fresh and dry.
  4. Place multigrain crackers and toasted baguette slices in one or two compartments, stacking neatly if compartments are shallow.
  5. Spoon hummus, olive tapenade, and mustard into small bowls or ramekins and place them in larger compartments or nestle carefully to avoid spills.
  6. Scatter mixed nuts and olives in remaining compartments. Add fresh herb sprigs for aroma and visual appeal.
  7. Close the tackle box securely. Pack in a cooler bag with ice packs if needed to keep fresh.

Notes

Line the tackle box compartments with parchment paper or napkins to avoid flavor transfer and keep food fresh. Use small bowls or ramekins for dips to prevent leaks. Let cheese sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before assembling for best flavor. Pack in a cooler bag with ice packs to maintain freshness. Prepare ingredients the night before but assemble just before serving to keep crackers crisp.
