  • 1/4 cup (85 g) honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped fresh parsley or green onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and fresh lemon juice. Set aside.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon fillets skin-side down (if skin-on) or presentation side down. Cook for 3-4 minutes without moving to get a golden-brown crust.
  5. Flip the salmon fillets carefully. Spoon or brush the honey garlic glaze generously over the cooked side. Cook for another 2 minutes to allow the glaze to thicken slightly.
  6. If your skillet is oven-safe, transfer it to the preheated oven and bake for 5-7 minutes depending on thickness. If not, transfer salmon to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, pour leftover glaze over fillets, and bake.
  7. Check for doneness; salmon should flake easily and have an internal temperature of 125°F (52°C) for medium doneness.
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for 2 minutes to redistribute juices.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before searing to ensure a crisp crust. Add glaze after flipping to prevent burning. For thicker glaze, simmer glaze mixture before applying. Avoid overcooking; salmon continues to cook after removal from oven. Use fish spatula to reduce fillet breakage.
