A quick and thoughtful apple-shaped caramel apple dip board that’s perfect as a teacher gift, combining crisp apples, a luscious caramel dip, and crunchy dippable snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 medium fresh apples (firm varieties like Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji)
  • Celery sticks (for the stem)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for the leaf)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) store-bought caramel sauce (e.g., Werther’s Original)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) honey-roasted peanuts or mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) mini pretzels
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) graham cracker sticks or cinnamon sticks

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Using a sharp knife, slice the apples into 1/4-inch (6 mm) thick wedges. Remove any seeds or tough cores. Arrange the slices on your board in the shape of a large apple—start with a rounded outline and fill in the center. This should take about 10 minutes.
  2. Cut celery sticks into short lengths (about 2 inches / 5 cm) for the apple stem. Place them at the top center of the apple shape. Add a couple of fresh mint leaves next to the celery to mimic an apple leaf. This adds a nice green contrast and takes just 2 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup (240 ml) of caramel sauce with 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of heavy cream and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Stir until smooth and pourable. Taste and add a pinch of sea salt flakes if you want to balance sweetness. This step takes 5 minutes.
  4. Place mini pretzels, graham cracker sticks, and honey-roasted peanuts on the sides and in gaps between apple slices to add variety and texture. This should take about 5 minutes.
  5. Serve the board with the caramel dip in the center, ideally at room temperature for best dipping texture. If prepping ahead, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Bring to room temperature before serving to avoid hard caramel.

Notes

If caramel is too thick, add more cream one teaspoon at a time until smooth. To prevent apple slices from browning, toss with lemon juice. Serve caramel dip at room temperature for best texture. Use high-quality caramel sauce for best flavor. Can substitute dippables for dietary needs.
