These crispy air fryer mozzarella sticks are quick, easy, and irresistibly cheesy with a golden crust. Perfect for game nights, parties, or cozy movie nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian-seasoned)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Unwrap string cheese sticks or cut block mozzarella into sticks about 4 inches long and 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, ensuring all sides are covered, and shake off excess.
  4. Dip the floured stick into the beaten egg, coating it completely.
  5. Roll the stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs adhere. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coating.
  6. Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  8. Spray the frozen mozzarella sticks lightly with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Work in batches if needed.
  9. Cook for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Serve immediately with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Freeze the mozzarella sticks before cooking to prevent cheese leakage. Double coat for extra crunch and avoid overcrowding the air fryer for even crisping.
