  • 1 ½ teaspoons high-quality ceremonial or culinary matcha powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) full-fat canned coconut milk, chilled
  • ½ teaspoon pure mint extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes (about 810 medium cubes)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) canned coconut cream, chilled and whipped
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill the canned coconut milk and coconut cream in the fridge overnight or at least 6 hours.
  2. Scoop out the solid coconut cream into a mixing bowl and whip with an electric mixer or whisk on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes. Optionally add 1 teaspoon maple syrup. Refrigerate the coconut whip.
  3. In a blender, combine matcha powder, chilled coconut milk, mint extract, maple syrup, ice cubes, and sea salt if using.
  4. Blend on high speed for 45 seconds to 1 minute until smooth and frothy. Adjust thickness by adding more coconut milk or ice cubes as needed. Stop and scrape down the sides once if needed.
  5. Pour the shake into tall glasses and top generously with the coconut whip. Garnish with a sprinkle of matcha powder or a fresh mint leaf if desired.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Chill coconut milk and cream overnight for best results. If short on time, freeze coconut cream for 15 minutes before whipping. Avoid over-blending matcha to prevent bitterness. Adjust mint extract carefully to avoid overpowering flavor. Use fresh mint leaves for extra brightness if desired.
