Easy, crispy chocolate-dipped pretzel rods that are colorful, fun, and perfect for parties or movie nights. These sweet and salty treats are quick to make and visually striking.

Ingredients

  • Pretzel rods
  • Candy melts (assorted colors: red, blue, green, yellow, white)
  • White chocolate chips (optional)
  • Vegetable shortening or coconut oil (1-2 teaspoons)
  • Sprinkles and edible glitter
  • Parchment paper or silicone mat

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat for drying.
  2. Place about 1 cup (170g) of candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Add 1 teaspoon (5ml) of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to thin the candy melts.
  3. Microwave on medium power for 30 seconds, stir well, then repeat in 15-second intervals until smooth and fully melted. Avoid overheating.
  4. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip it about 3/4 of the way into the melted candy. Rotate slowly to coat evenly.
  5. Gently tap the rod on the edge of the bowl to remove excess coating.
  6. Before the coating sets, scatter sprinkles or edible glitter over the wet chocolate.
  7. Place the coated rod on the lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining rods.
  8. Chill the tray in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes until the chocolate firms up.
  9. Store the set pretzel rods in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate if warm.

Notes

Use vegan candy melts and coconut oil for dairy-free version. Use gluten-free pretzel rods for gluten-free option. Work quickly to prevent candy melts from hardening. Keep utensils dry to avoid candy seizing. Store in airtight container for up to one week. Re-chill softened rods for 5 minutes to restore crispness.
