Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk (use dairy-free milk if needed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar (for cinnamon sugar swirl)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar swirl)
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated sugar until light and fluffy (around 2-3 minutes).
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined—don’t overmix.
  6. Toss the diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Spread half of the apple mixture on top, followed by half of the cinnamon sugar swirl. Repeat with the remaining batter, apples, and cinnamon sugar.
  8. Use a knife to gently swirl the layers together for a marbled effect.
  9. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 55-65 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
  10. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.
  12. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
