These apple brownies are moist, fudgy, and bursting with sweet apple chunks, making them the perfect treat for fall baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup apples, peeled, cored, and diced (use tart varieties like Granny Smith)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small chunks. Set them aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula. Stop mixing when the batter is just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the diced apples and any optional add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The edges should be slightly crisp, and the center fudgy.
  9. Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

[‘Use tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best flavor balance.’, ‘Avoid overmixing the batter to maintain a fudgy texture.’, ‘Let the brownies cool completely before cutting to ensure they set properly.’, ‘Customize the spices by adding ground ginger or cardamom for a unique twist.’]
